Two days ago I was given some ancient beautiful large wooden buttons that date back to the 50’s. They remind me of an owl with holes looking like big round eyes and marking which make them seem feathery. I thought this week’s Freshly made sketch would match them nicely. I started with a card with a blue background, and made another with very light green. I can’t decide which one I like more.

The first card –

I saw this wonderful and easy guide that explains how to make a mini album from scratch and decided to have a go and make a 7″ x 7″ mini.

The obvious candidate for the very first mini was a blank album for the birth of a baby girl, a present for the brand new addition to a friend’s family. I decided to leave it all blank so that the parents can write the titles to the photographs themselves which will make it much more personalised and turn it into a joint project.

Here are a few pages, starting with the cover.

Cardstock – nameless single sheets that I got at a stationary shop

Stamp – Fiskars New Baby simple stick rubber stamps

Ink – ColorBox Lavender pigment ink

Embossing Folder – Cuttlebug Swiss Dots

This page was made with Inkadinkado Patterned Bugs clear stamp, ColorBox Lavender, Aqua and Seagull pigment ink, EK Success butterfly mini punch

This page was made with Inkadinkado Patterned Pets clear stamp, ColorBox Lavender, Aqua, Robin’s Egg and Seagull pigment ink

And the last photo is of  the concertina fold spine which was made with same inks and stamps as above

I am trying to make these as simple as possible as I will have to make do many of them in such a short time. I think I will try this design in different colours, although I do like the red.

Paper – my trusty simple white nameless cardstock, Best of K&Company

Ink – Barn Door distress ink

Stamp – Technique Tuesday Pocket full of posies

Embossing Floder – Cuttlebug Swiss Dots

Ribbon – Celebrate It

New Year Cards

The Jewish New Year’s Eve is on the 16th of September. As I am on holiday at the moment, I thought it would be a great use of my time to start making all the cards now. I will probably make 10 of these

Paper – simple white cardstock, light blue patterned paper I have had for ages and can’t remember which brand it is
Embossing Folder – Cuttlebug Swiss Dots

Stamp – Inkadinkado Patterned Bugs
Ink – ColorBox pigment Robin’s Egg, Frayed Burlap distress marker

Ribbon – again, no idea what brand it is. Very simple ribbon which I bought by the meter.

I loved the ‘Dynamic Duos’ number 14 Challenge, these colours are so vibrant and for some reason really remind me of Nairobi City Market.

Paper – Recollections white cardstock,  plain white cardstock which was coloured with Bundled Sage and Dried Marigold Tim Holtz distress markers
Embossing Folder – Cuttlebug Floral Fantasy
Stamps – flowers: Think Spring Studio112, sentiment: Beary Fun Fiskars
